Do You Still Play XDefiant
The other night, I hopped on @thefuriousJ stream. He asked, who still plays XDefiant? I answered by saying “I don’t play as much, but I do get on and off.” He asked me why or how come and given the limited amount space I have to respond, I’m going to reply here in detail and it won’t be a long response. Back in Black Ops 1, we’re talking about 2010, I played Black Ops, mainly Dom and Hardpoint with a few of the guys. We all stayed in one lobby and constantly talk shit to the other team, trolled, rip the other team an ass, and vice versa. Even after a kill, you can hear someone scream “you suck” among other thing, and a bunch of other racist trash.
But back then, no one gave shit, cried, complained, whine, no one was soft and tender, no one got offended. It wasn’t only CoD, it could be any game with a multiplayer component. The trash talking was in almost every game, that’s just the way it was; it was funny as hell. The shit that use to be said, or may be said, would make a noob gamer cry today. We had no pity. Then again, it was never personal, ever. It was just down right fun to get on the mic and goof off, talk trash, so on and so forth.
So why don’t I play XDefiant as much? Simple, no one talks anymore. No one says shit anymore. No one clowns around anymore. Every damn lobby is silent. You might hear some one say one or two words and that’s it, or, someone may threaten you with and I quote “I’m going to report you” for this or that. It’s boring, and people, for the most, part act all tender. It’s just not fun anymore, I get board and hop off. It’s like gaming companies are turning people into rats. If you don’t know what a rat is, a rat is someone that snitches on people, a tattletale, what children do.
Gaming companies like Activision, Ubisoft and others have taken a draconian approach when it comes to going out of their way to control speech, to the point that you might get voice chat banned because of something you said. And even posting this type of topic would surely be removed else where. In short, no one or barely anyone talks in XDefiant, Call of Duty and other types of games. Or, someone threatens you with, “I’ll report you” (that’s a rat), to get you banned over what I, or you, or anyone says.
Lets get something straight, the entire purpose of in-game reports is to report someone of cheating. The purpose of in-game reports is not to report someone because they said something you didn’t like, nor agreed with nor because you got over emotional and offended. That’s what the mute button is there for! When it comes to games like Call of Duty, everything in voice chat gets recorded with or without your consent, like your a child in need of a daddy to step in and clean house because you got called an ass, or some one said “tyranny” when they were talking about the transmission in their car.
Here’s an example of taking things to an extreme: @Asmondgold just gave his opinion on Twitch and this grown ass man get suspended for 14 days and was told to go clean up his room! Are you kidding me or what? All this protective lobbies, censoring words, silencing people by way of bans is getting borderline ridiculous. I’m just to old and I refuse to conform. Again, specifically speaking of XDefiant, it’s a good game, but is just boring.
