Epic Games is another gaming platform on PC. The Epic Game Store has an array of games to choose from, RPG, Racing, Horror, Indie, Multiplayer, Open World Games, Platformers, Puzzle Games, Shooter, Sports, Survival just to name several. The Library of game is plentiful, but not as large of a selection like the Steam Store. You can buy and download games and play them from from the Epic Launcher.
Epic games comes with three general tabs, Discover. Browse and News. With Discover, you’ll find Summer Game Feast Spotlight featuring a selection of games you can add to your wish list. Mega Seal Spotlight featuring a selection of games that are currently on sell. There may be other games on sell that may not be listed, however.
Free games is a fantastic feature from Epic Games. You get get one free game a week. That’s 4 free games a month, 48 games a year. Games that Epic may give away anywhere from an indie game to a triple A Title. Just last week, they gave away Borderlands 3 base game for free. This week, you’re getting Man Eater if your interested. You can build a nice collection of games with time. There’s no other platform that I’m aware off that allows gamers to download four games a month without a subscription. This is a huge plus for Epic Games and much appreciated.
With Editor’s Pick, you have a selection of features games that may be of interest, as well as, new releases, Top Sellers and Coming Soon. You also have a list of games that come with achievements. A feature list of games recently updated, Most Popular games and New Games add to the Epic Store.
Under the Browse Tap, you can choose to search games by popularity, Genres, Relevance, Prices: Low to High or vice versa, Alphabetical or just type the name of a game in the Search box.
With News, you can read up on all your favorite games, in-coming deals or just stay up to date with gaming news right from the Epic Game Store.
You’re library houses all your games that you’ve bought. It has a drop down menu where you can see the most recent games you’ve bought or, you can view your games in alphabetical order. At the bottom of the library, you can choose to see your games in multiple pages or your entire collection in one page.
With Epic Games, you have a friends list. You can add from or, import friends from Steam. However, the friends list lacks a text chat box and voice chat. Some some strange reason, none of these two features exist. If you want to send a message to a friend, you can’t. I’ve click on friends name to send or to tell about a game or an upcoming game, no dice. This should be standard. Am I wrong? Also, there’s no forum area to discus games or anything relating to the Epic Store. There’s no work shop to download mods either.
All in all, the Epic Game Store is good, however, I’m not expecting a Steam type clone, but Epic can add more features to the store, especially adding a the ability to text chat and voice chat. The Epic Game store can be, you know, Epic. By adding community type features that gamers, as a whole, will enjoy. I think it would be a welcome addition. If you never experienced the Epic Store, do yourself a favor and check it out.
In a nutshell: Free games to build a nice collection of games. A wide variety of games in the store to choose from. Friends list needs text and or, voice chat. Continual updates are made. Time to time you get coupons that save you money. Forum would be a nice addition. No in-game workshop to download mods for games. – The Social Pit
