It’s Alive And Unforgiving
It’s been said that fine wine taste better with age. Grid 2 is no exception. Grid 2 is an arcade racing game released back in 2013. I loved every minute of it when I played it back on Play Station 3. Back then, I didn’t care for the career mode, I just wanted to get online and tear it up. And that’s just what I did. There are no rules and no turn signal. No respect for those around you. The only thing that goes through you mind is, “win at all costs” The carnage, the intensity of racing online was a blast. Either you total your car, total someone else or you get total by someone else. Grid lobbies were always full back then. If you were a “dirty racer, your rating will turn red and you’d be put in a dirty racing lobby with others dirty racers. However, the cleaner you race, the better your rating. It was a cheap way to separate those that wanted to have legit races, vs. those that were there just to raise all kinds of hell on the tracks. It was hilarious and fun at the same time.
Leveling Up is Still Slow
It had and still has a leveling system. As you level up, you earn money and unlock cars. You use your money to buy cars you like. You can upgrade them to race higher classes, or down grade the car to its original class. You had grip and drift cars, however, with enough practice, you can just drift or slide around corners without losing to much speed. That would just aggravate some people. My favorite car was and still is the Caterham-Lola SP300R. Man, I love that car. Another favorite of mine was the Chevy Camaro, but those two are my top preferred cars to race in. Grid 2 offers a large selection of cars, from Muscle, sport, to Hyper Cars like the Koniseg Agerra. You can buy your favorite or buy all the cars, upgrade them, add decals, paint, buy rims, you can just deck out your car to your liking.
From Console to PC
Having moved from console to PC, I was a different world. Many of the old games I use to play on PS3, couldn’t play on PS4 anymore without paying for a moronic PS Now Subscription. However, I found almost all the older games I use to play on PS3, on Steam, Grid 2 was one of them. I grabbed Grid 2 and this time around, I decided to play and finish the career mode and I did. It was fantastic, in my opinion. Circuit, street, endurance, it had it all, well, for its time. When I finished the career mode, I jumped online and yes, today, in 2020, the online multiplayer for Grid 2 is still live. However, the online multiplayer is dead. On occasions, you might fine one or two people. Since I couldn’t transfer my levels and cars from PS3, I had to start all over again. It’s annoying since the leveling is super slow, even worst when no one plays anymore. However, a friend suggested to change to a polish server and yes, depending on the time of day, lobbies are full or half full.
Grid 2 Aged Like Fine Wine and It Sill Rocks
For its time, Grid 2 was and is a blast to play. If you have friends that own Grid 2 on PC-Steam, you can round them up, jump on Grid 2, create an online pvp lobby and have at it. Sadly, Grid 2 has been removed from Steam and no longer sold. However, if you can manage to find it somewhere else, I’m sure you can buy Grid 2 with a steam key. However, there’s new Grid games. But It’s not Grid 2. Grid 2 is fully functional with Windows 10
In My Opinion: Greate: Grid 2 is still a lot of fun to race in 2022. – The Social Pit
Well, really GRID 2 is a fantastic game that has always had limitations to play online, apparently the RACENET servers are not easily connected in all countries, so to be able to play online and find other players’ games, it is It is necessary to configure steam to download from the UK or Poland, this additional limits the possibilities of matching schedules due to the distance between countries.
They also have as a limitation that there are many cheaters, because the superiority of their results is easily evident, such as winning a 5-minute race in just 2 seconds or simply winning when obviously they don’t even know how to take a curve. Despite all of the above, GRID 2 is a fantastic game, very fun and really exciting when you are passionate about cars and do not want to go to the extreme of a simulator.
As the game is no longer available on platforms, you can purchase the game in some stores and you can download the expansions from the internet and install them, all this without affecting the game on.
The Online multiplayer and singleplayer modes are also still active, which will surely attract your attention when you do not get an online game to challenge your skills.
Good luck and good racing.
Winning races in 2 seconds? Well, at least I know I don’t suck. lmao. I’m still surprised that Grid 2 online still works, though. The U.S. servers are dead, sadly. Just to thing that one has to run hacks/cheats in a racing game, it just ruins the game, to be honest.
