Splitgate

DEVELOPER & PUBLISHER:
1047 Games

It’s Not Pay To Win

Anyone that knows me, knows I loathe free-to-play games. Simple reason is because, yes, the game itself is free to play, but many are swamped with macro-transactions. If one isn’t careful, you can send hundreds if not thousands of dollars. However, there may be some exceptions and Splitgate is one of those exceptions. Splitgate is an FPS and the game is well done and beautiful to look at. The game play is rock solid. You can play with a keyboard and mouse or a controller. Controllers, on the PC, you have aim assist for controllers and you can set the sensitivity up to 100%. I, however, prefer keyboard and mouse Yes, Splitgate is free to play but Splitgate is not pay to win. Everything in the store is pure cosmetic, skins, weapon skins, new characters and yes, splitgate coins. Similar to CoD points, however, you collect 100 Split Coins once a week. Up to now, the dev’s has kept it as is. That’s a good thing. Splitgate offers a Kill Cam Option that you can enable or disable. You can also report players if you suspect cheating was involved.

Plenty of Game Modes

You have multiple modes you can choose from, the following modes are: Team Death Match. One Flag Capture The Flag, Team Oddball. King of The Hill (Hardpoint) Domination. Team Swat. Take Down, Search and Survive: Evolution, Showdown. Team Shotty Snipers v.s Team Snipers. Team Rumble: Split Ball, Zombies, Lazer Tag and FFA Brawl: Gun Game, Instagib and One in The Chamber.

Battlepass Option

Splitgate also offers a Battle Pass with one hundred tracks. Some are free, however. Everything in the Battle Pure, 100% cosmetics, from character skins, weapon skins to new characters. You also have Stats. Leader boards (if that’s your thing) and Replays. You also have challenges to unlock new cosmetics items. However, some of the challenges are locked behind the battle pass. The Battle Pass cost 900 Split Coins. You also have a Premium Battle Pass for 2,000 Split Coins and you skip 20 levels. It’s not worth it in my opinion. The dumbest thing any developer can add is a skip level for for a price. If you’re going to play and pay to level up, then why bother playing at all. It’s just another way to scam people. Obviously, Splitgate is not the only one that does this. All that tells me is that they’ve decreased the time to level up normally to get you to play extra to level up. There’s just something that shouldn’t be for sell. Don’t even get me started.

Maps and Custom Maps BETA

Currently, there’s 14 maps in total. There’s also a My Map which is in BETA. I’ve never tried it but I’m guessing you can create your maps and have people add them to there play list. If so, then you’ll see many maps created by players. It’s going to be interesting if Nuke Town isn’t going to be added. Come on, you know someone is going to. Maybe not the exact replica, but… come on. Maps have a lot of vertical structures, so, your able to jump and mantle around. You can boost jump and boost slide. And no, no grappling hooks.

Portals Man, Portals

One interesting thing that Splitgate has is, Portals. At first when you play, is odd, but when you get the hand of it, easy kills. HA. You’ll be opening, getting kills, closing portals, setting traps like, falling in a loop, yeah, you can get creative.

All Loadouts Are Standard and No Customization

Everyone starts off with the same load out, AR and a side pistol, well, that depends on the game mode. to change weapons, you just run around and pick up what you can find. It does, however, have a HALO feel to it. You can create your own custom lobbies with just friends or a pub lobby, choose weapons, map location and have at it. The Time To Kill is not long nor fast. It’s alright. I guess it depends on your taste. I prefer quick.

All in all, Splitgate is fantastic alternative to other First-Person shooters. You can enable or disable cross play. The one thing I do not like is that you’re never in the same lobby at the end of the match.

In My Opinion: Solid controls. Solid Game Play. Varaity of maps and modes. Time to kill can be quicker. The Social Pit
